Today is the day. Flying out to Geneva in approximately 2 hours and then tomorrow we are officially beginning. Basically, this was destined to be a mild post, lacking in any real excitement but to anyone who decides to read this… read on! Prepare to be dazzled; the coming 35 days or however long this takes us are sure to be terribly exciting. Our walk (The Grande Randonnée 5) is 500-ish miles and I shall be recounting each day’s adventures via emails to my sister (I have a hunch internet access will be limited in the Alps…) – thanks Brogan.
We have also decided to raise money on our lengthy traverse for a charity called 500 Miles, supporting amputees and other disabled people in Malawi and Zambia by providing life-changing prosthetic and orthotic devices. I’m proud to be supporting such a cause and would be so grateful if you could help too, the link to my Just Giving page is below and any donations would be amazing.
Wish me luck!

I'm SOOOO HAPPY THAT I'LL BE ABLE TO FOLLOW YOUR PROGRESS ON BLOG. It's beem a great summer so far, first Andy, then Xander and now wee Maddy trekking through France. Have a great time and, if your feet are sore, make sure you make for the nearest 5* hotel! Lots of love, Grandma xx
