Day 4: Samoëns to Refuge de Moëde Anterne

A Gallivanting Girl

Saturday 13 July
24km ( 88km) – 1800m ascent – 505m descent.

Today was definitely better than yesterday, lots of ascent but only a smidgeon of descent; descent makes you want to amputate your toes and your feet generally feel like they are being steadily crushed – so that was nice. We saw lots of waterfalls and had to climb ladders to escape a gorge, walked through the snow line (got ankle freeze), saw a few marmots. Mother claims she’s developed “Walker’s Elbow” and I am yet to die of sepsis from my sunburn. The refuge is also awesome as we can see Mont Blanc from the window and the beds are really comfy!

The scenery looks amazing but Im'sure there's an easier way to access it.How did you manage to revive your phone? You seem to have covered about 25% of the route – it's certainly more exciting that the Tour de France. Keep it up!

Sorry, Maddy, that should have been 12.5% still you seem to be making good progress.
