26.8km (413.61 km) -> 405.1 km to Santiago
Sunday 10th April
I have passed the half way point 😀, and what a way to do it….not a walk that I’ll forget in a hurry although there was NOTHING memorable about it. We walked 17km in a straight line on an entirely flat plane – the wind was literally howling, the landscape featureless…torture, but at least Brogan was here to share the experience (and validate the true horror of it :)). We came across a pop up coffee van at around 10km; a very enterprising young man who realised he could sell anything to any pilgrim at this point on the empty, wild plane and they’d drink it and believe it was in fact coffee…we tried, we added sugar to saturation point but it still was undrinkable (Brogan says disgusting) . After 17km we reached the village of Cazadilla de la Cueza, a relief after seeing the church tower of the village for well over an hour before arriving there. After lunch we took the ‘off piste’ route to try and keep off the road and were once again buffeted and battered by the elements; driving hail and strong winds…we arrived at Terradillos de Templarios later than usual as we’d decided this morning to make the most of our lovely Hotel, knowing what lay ahead.
