It was strange to set off this morning, I think psychologically I was only walking to Santiago. It was a short day, through scented woods at the start and then on roads for much of the way to Negreira. It is hard to believe that a week ago I was having showers at the end of the day to warm up, today the sun was relentless and we were searching for shade whenever possible. Dan of course had been told of the terrible weather of the last few weeks so has brought warm weather gear and full waterproofs…no shorts! Tomorrow is 34km, mostly on the road so we’re starting early to try and avoid the heat of the day.
Negreira is an unattractive town and we are staying in the bus tours hotel ( it is incredibly noisy, but we are probably suffering from heat stroke so I am presuming we will sleep anyway)but we have just been out for dinner and found a great restaurant and I have just had the best meal of my trip; an unexpectedly perfect meal!
