The final push to Robin Hoods Bay 😊. We stocked up with essentials at the local shop, thus adding a few kilos to our packs, before setting off up hill out of Grosmont and onto moorland, after which we came to Little Beck Wood. As with most walks as you enter the last stage you are aware of re-entering civilisation; there were a lot more day walkers and folk just out walking their dogs, who seemed very unburdened compared to us as we strode past with our back packs. The day continued, passing caravan parks and soon we were on a coastal path with Robin Hood’s Bay in view – long before we would finally arrive there. Eventually we dropped down into the busy town and we trudged down to the sea to complete our walk. I had our stones, from St Bees, at the ready to throw into the sea and we stood at the edge of the sea ready to throw in the stones when an almighty wave crashed onto us; I was soaked from the waste down, boots full of water! We climbed back up the hill to ‘The Victoria’ where we were staying and checked in looking suitably bedraggled. It’s a great spot and our room looks out over the bay, so a perfect end to a great trip. We stayed in the hotel for a few drinks and dinner and tomorrow it’s a quick taxi to Whitby to catch the train back to Edinburgh. Here’s to the next trip 😊
