34.8 km (730.2 km)
Hardest day yet
Today seemed to be an exceptionally long stage with a combination of beautiful vistas, steep ascents and climbing temperatures. There was a steep climb (425 meters) from Tamicelas to the cross of Mount Talariño (965 m), passing through Alberguería after 11km where we had great empanadas in a very Peregrino-friendly bar full of Camino shells from most of the people who had ever stopped there. We left our own shell to add to his massive collection. Further on, from Vilar de Barrio to Bobadela the landscape changed significantly again as we passed through agricultural plains, and, from Bobadela at the end of the stage, we finished the walk through mainly scrubland. I couldn’t keep up with Marian today; I was totally exhausted – my hardest day yet! When we arrived at our destination she had already ‘bagged’ us some beds for the night. We headed out for an early menu del dia and now are ready for bed at 8:30. Tomorrow is shorter, so looking forward to a sub 30 km day for the first time in nearly a week. I would say I am too old for this but then there is Marian!

April 27, 2018 at 8:02 amHi Pauline, I have just caught up on your travels and I think what you have been missing was a couple of Aussies with you❤️. You are such a resilient person and you have overcome many obstacles. You are a legend and I can’t wait to see your photos in Santiago xoxo

April 27, 2018 at 3:17 pmIt looks lovely but my feet are aching at the thought of walking over 30kms day after day! I like the romantic touch – the shell! Why is the wee dog running away ? Did you ‘spray’ it? Love Mum x
