Update: After a visit to the doctor this morning and a bandaging from an over exuberant nurse with too much gauze and omnifix I have been advised to take a couple of days off and let the infection in three of my toes clear up, with the help of some antibiotics. I made the decision therefore to take ANOTHER jump on the route (this time 90km by bus) to Salamanca. It seemed sensible to spend two more rest days in a beautiful city as opposed to a small village. I have never done a walking trip with so much transport but needs must. I will walk on Sunday and if I still have issues with my feet I’ll take a bus to Madrid and go back to Edinburgh. I’m hoping the new load of medicaments and antibiotics will allow me to continue.

April 13, 2018 at 6:28 pmReally sorry to hear about your infected toes. !! Hope you benefit from the break in Salamanca and are able to continue but, failing that, the most sensible would definitely be to come home. Love 💖 Mum x

April 13, 2018 at 7:35 pmPauline,Dad here. I think you are being very wise and some time in Salamanca must be a good plan and a pleasant prospect. Poor you. Sounds as awful as the infantry plague of ‘trench-feet’, brought about by serious marching, through water, mud and rough terrain. (Familiar?).Look after yourself. That’s the main thing. Love, Dad

February 12, 2019 at 1:54 pmHi Pauline
Have been reading up on your blog as my hubby and I are currently doing the VdlP. We are from Australia visiting our son and daughter-in-law. They got married in Jan and having a bub in March. I just noticed a category Pentland Hills. Hubby and I have been walking around there for 2 weeks before here as my son lives In Currie. We love the Pentland Hills. Just thought I would share. We are loving the VdlP. Started in Merida and walking to Salamanca. We did Camino Santiago 3 years ago (the whole pilgrimage) and loved it. Time is limited this time though!
Love your log Cheers Sue

February 17, 2019 at 9:21 pmHi Sue, Thanks for the comments, I have had great fun on my caminos and would recommend to anyone. Funny that you know the Pentlands too! I know them like the back of my hand and love them still as if I was visiting for the first time – makes living in Edinburgh perfect, being able to escape so easily.Enjoy the VDlP, I met some great characters and hold them in my heart as with all those we meet along the ways. 🙂
