Tuesday 19th April
26km (490 km)
No longer alone
I had a pleasant day, walking along small roads and woodland paths through valleys. There were quite a few hills to keep things interesting and I spoke to more people today than I have done during the previous 19 days! The path then followed the River Sar into the historic town of Padron. I had intended to spend some time here before walking the extra 8km to the Albergue I’m staying at but the fair was in town, taking up most of the historic site squares it would seem so onward to A Picaraña! I decided I would leave it until next time.
Dogs and detours
I think most people must stop at Padrón because as soon as I was out of the town I could seem no one as the path twisted into the distance. I could, however, see some dogs in a field as I approached and the fear hit me…meeting with dogs (plural) is not a good scenario when I am in the middle of nowhere. I decided I would take my chance with the traffic and wound my way through fields onto the N550. The route more, or less, hugged this major road until I reached my destination…on the other side of the road! It took me about 20 minutes to get across the road so I’ll be leaving at 6 am tomorrow when hopefully the truck drivers are still in bed. So that’s it…18 km to go 🙂
