Railway stations and roads
Today was a very easy day, feet-wise but fairly unimpressive scenery-wise. We followed small busy roads for the first part of the day (leaping into the ditch as required to avoid being squashed by passing trucks). The greater part of the day was spent on dirt tracks parallel to railway tracks. When I say the highlight of the day was passing no fewer than five train stations I hope you get the gist…the day was pretty unremarkable.
Lovely Albergue
We are now in Azambuja staying at a great Albergue run by a lovely, chatty hospetalario. He had a Ukrainian stamp badge in his pocket he said to keep the people of Ukraine close to his heart. Today there are a few more pilgrims so we will be extracting stories from them no doubt this evening.
Azambuja
Azambja is a pretty little town, apparently settled in the 13th century and as with yesterday’s stop celebrates the running of the bulls in the May Fair. I must remember never to come then!
