I’m not going to mention my feet or the weather…so it’ll be a short post :). I was in waterproofs all day but more because I was convinced it was about to start raining as opposed to the weather being terrible, in fact as far as walking goes it was the perfect blend of light wind and temperatures in the low 20s. Today was the last day on the coast . As has been the trend in recent days the bulk of the walk was inland with the arrival in Ribadeo coinciding with the first sea views of the day. Ribadeo represents a major landmark on the Camino. On crossing the river into town we entered into Gallicia, the final region of the trip and our final views of the coast.
We walked out of La Caridad before breakfast, having been promised that there was a stop 4K along the route. 4k came and went, as did 10 then 15 and still no coffee stop. This has become such a mood determinant for me that I am bringing a flask NEXT time,so that I can have some coffee even when the whole of Spain appears to be asleep. Just 1.5k from Ribadeo we came to a petrol station selling coffee, so I was in ordering not caring if it tasted like dish water. It didn’t it was great, far better than any coffee I’ve had at home for sure! We continued on to Ribadeo, far too late for the 12 bed Albergue but in plenty of time to find a suitable Pension. The usual routine of shower, then Menu Del Dia (before 3, or you have to wait until 8) and now just going for a cafe con leche and churros before the usual Camino bedtime of around 9pm, exciting stuff.
